The Next Generation Service Corps (NextGen Service) is a network of programs at universities across the country that inspire and prepare students to serve their communities and nation. Led by schools of public service, NextGen Service programs introduce undergraduates from all majors to public service values and build practical, collaborative leadership skills. NextGen Service opens the door to careers in public service for college students.

Events

NextGen Service programs bring students together for exciting events on campus, across campuses, and virtually to provide networking and service-learning opportunities.

In February, the Volcker Alliance brought eight NextGen students from four of our member universities to the annual NextGen Service Corps (NGSC) Leadership Conference at Arizona State University (ASU). In addition to meeting their fellow NextGen Service members, the students had the opportunity to participate in mock interviews, network with and hear from panels of public servants, and be inspired by keynote speaker Evan Moss, a leader in tech whose own passion for change led him to create “Let’s Talk About Race,” a monologue that blossomed into presentations on race for organizations nationwide.

“Moss’s speech was profoundly moving,” Luis Enrique Ruiz, Montclair University (’27) noted. “He noted ’Change must happen where there aren’t cameras. It starts within our hearts,’ and ‘Silence is complicity,’ underscoring the importance of becoming a catalyst for change.”

Student Ambassadors

Each NextGen Service program selects a Student Ambassador to represent its campus in the national network. Ambassadors keep their peers “in the know” about upcoming events and opportunities, coordinate service activities on campus, and design creative ways to engage with peers across the network.
