Special project consultants Katherine Barrett and Richard Greene have released their new book, Making Government Work: The Promises and Pitfalls of Performance-Informed Management, which catalogs the history of performance management in government through a series of interviews with academics, public servants, and other experts. Barrett and Greene share the stories of what current practitioners are working on and practical steps public servants are taking to make government work better. They give a landscape review of performance management tools, disseminate best practices for government practitioners, and describe common pitfalls and how to avoid them.
