North Carolina G2U Regional Council
The North Carolina Office of Strategic Partnerships (OSP) leads the North Carolina G2U Regional Council. OSP increases and enhances partnerships between state government and North Carolina’s renowned research institutions and philanthropic sector. This includes elevating the State’s internal capacity to use and generate evidence in its policy and programmatic functions. OSP does this in part by building and enhancing collaborative networks of public officials and research partners. OSP focuses on partnerships of various scope and complexity and opportunities that have lasting impact, are scalable, and yield public, open-source resources.
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper established the Director of Strategic Partnerships role in late 2018. OSP is housed in the North Carolina Office of State Budget and Management, which includes data-driven and evidence-based decisionmaking among its priorities.
OSP is partnering with the Volcker Alliance on the Government-to-University Initiative. Particularly relevant to G2U is OSP's initiative to strengthen the state government talent pipeline. This project addresses the related challenges of: 1) state government striving to attract talent for employment opportunities across the state, and 2) talented college and university graduates striving to find and pursue state government employment opportunities.
