On February 4, the Volcker Alliance's Next Generation Service Corps network joined Arizona State University's On Leadership Seminar, a day of professional development and cohort-building for NextGen Service students. The seminar, first launched by Arizona State University’s NextGen program in 2015, was held in person for ASU students. NextGen Service students from Georgia State University, Indiana University, Montclair State University, the University of Houston, the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and the University of Washington participated virtually.

The Seminar kicked off with remarks from the Alliance's senior director of Next Generation Service Initiatives, Brett Hunt, and chief of public service at Watts College, Cindy Parnell. Those remarks were followed by a panel moderated by Breanna Carpenter, assistant director of the ASU Public Enterprise and cohort 1 graduate of NextGen Service, which included representatives from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Breakout sessions later in the day provided students with professional development, including internship workshops and mentorship meetings. The virtual portion of the program included training on the network’s online platform, NextGen Connect, and speed networking for the students to connect with one another from across the nation.

The On Leadership Seminar provided NextGen Service students with a unique professional development and networking opportunity.
