Georgia G2U Regional Network

In June 2021, the Volcker Alliance launched a partnership with leaders from Georgia’s municipal workforce development effort as the sixth site in the Government-to-University initiative.

The G2U initiative in Georgia is led by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) and Georgia City Solutions (GCS). Their multi-year effort, “Jobs with Purpose: Municipal Workforce Development Initiative,” brings together municipal and university leaders to collaboratively assess the workforce needs of Georgia’s cities and develop plans to address them. This important regional initiative is supported by staff from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia and includes representatives from the Technical College System of Georgia, University System of Georgia and the Georgia Department of Education.

As this initiative progresses, the “Jobs with Purpose” stakeholders are engaging with G2U partners around the country to share guidance and innovative practices.

The Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) represents all 537 cities across the state of Georgia and provides leadership, tools, and services that assist municipal governments in becoming more innovative, effective, and responsive. Georgia City Solutions is a nonprofit created by GMA to establish and support innovative programs, solutions, and research aimed at building vibrant, economically prosperous, and well-managed cities and improving the quality of life of municipal residents in Georgia.
